From 28 -30 January 2025 the 6th CM SAF user workshop on Research and applications using satellite -based climate data records will take place at Gustav-Stresemann-Institut in Bonn, Germany. The meeting will start at 13:00 CET on 28 January and end at 13:00 CET on 30 January.

Here you can find the CM SAF Workshop Agenda (PDF, 214KB, Not barrier-free file.)

This workshop will focus on discussions with the science community and users on research and applications using satellite -based climate data records. A specific focus will be on key science questions around climate monitoring as well as the analysis of climate change and variability. In addition, the workshop collects feedback on the application and usefulness of satellite-based climate data records in this context.

The objectives of the workshop are:

  • to provide an overview of the CM SAF and SAF network climate data records (CDRs),
  • to identify needed improvements, adaptations and extensions related to currently available CDRs to increase the fitness-for-purpose in climate monitoring,
  • to identify opportunities to allow early developments for future capacity development,
  • to provide a platform to network with climate science experts, with others users and with experts from CM SAF and the SAF network.

The workshop will be composed of a mixture of presentations, interactive discussion and poster sessions. The following sessions are considered:

  • Monitoring of climate change and variability on global and regional scales
  • Support to (climate) modelling, reanalysis, climate services and other ECVs
  • Taking advantage of new opportunities, technologies and sensors: Where do we go with satellite-based data records and related services?

Depending on abstract submissions the sessions might be restructured and new ones might be added.

A detailed agenda will be provided in December 2024.

The workshop will be an in-person meeting, with the objective to foster discussions and exchange.
