This tutorial presents the Essential Climate Variable “Cloud Properties” and related datasets. It also explains the role of clouds in the Earth´s climate system, the cloud physical properties and how clouds are estimated from satellite observations. Related datasets are the CM SAF Cloud, Albedo and Radiation from the AVHRR data record, Edition 2 (CLARA-A2) as well as the ESA Cloud_cci ATSR2-AATSRv3 dataset.
