Cloud Properties

This tutorial presents the Essential Climate Variable “Cloud Properties” and related datasets. It also explains the role of clouds in the Earth´s climate system, the cloud physical properties and how clouds are estimated from satellite observations. Related datasets are the CM SAF Cloud, Albedo and Radiation from the AVHRR data record, Edition 2 (CLARA-A2) as well as the ESA Cloud_cci ATSR2-AATSRv3 dataset.

Surface Radiation Budget

The following tutorial describes the Essential Climate Variable “Surface Radiation Budget” and presents different radiation fluxes as well as their estimation methods from satellite observations. The related datasets are the CM SAF Cloud, Albedo and Radiation from the AVHRR data record, Edition 2 (CLARA-A2) and the ESA Cloud_cci ATSR2-AATSRv3 dataset.

Water Vapour

In this tutorial, we present the Essential Climate Variable “Water Vapour” at the upper atmospheric level. It mentions the three types of water vapour products: Upper Tropospheric Humidity (UTH), Tropospheric Humidity Profiles and Total Column Water Vapour. Related datasets are the CM SAF Microwave Upper Tropospheric Humidity Data Record – Edition 1 and the C3S Total Column Water Vapour Global Vapour from 2002 to 2012 dataset.
